Essilor Stellest myopia control spectacle lens

Myopia (nearsightedness) is growing fast in children, and higher prescriptions raise the lifetime risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma and myopic macular degeneration. Myopia management uses proven treatments to slow the eye’s growth — protecting your child’s long-term eye health, not just updating the glasses each year.

Treatment options we offer

MiSight® 1 day — the first FDA-approved soft daily contact lens for slowing myopia in children aged 8–12 at the start of treatment. Stellest® lenses — spectacle lenses from Essilor with a ring of micro-lenslets that slow eye growth while correcting vision.

Who is a candidate?

Children whose prescription is increasing year over year, children with one or two nearsighted parents, and kids who spend many hours on near work or indoors. The earlier treatment begins, the more benefit it provides.

What to expect

Your consultation includes a full eye exam and a conversation about which option fits your child’s lifestyle. We then see your child for follow-ups, typically at 1 week, 1 month and 6 months, and every 6 months after that to track results.

Frequently asked questions

Is myopia management covered by insurance?

Vision plans generally do not cover it, though some cover a portion of the contact lenses. We offer flexible payment options and will review costs before you commit.

Are contact lenses safe for kids?

Yes. Daily disposable lenses like MiSight have an excellent safety record in children, and we teach every child (and parent) proper handling before they go home.

How much does it slow myopia?

Clinical studies show roughly a 50–60% reduction in progression across the leading treatments, with results varying by child.
