Cataract & Surgical Co-Management at AZ Family EyeDocs

When surgery is the right next step, you still deserve to be cared for by doctors who know you. We evaluate cataracts and refractive surgery candidacy, refer you to the Valley’s most trusted surgeons, and provide your pre-operative measurements and post-operative visits right here in your neighborhood.

Cataracts

A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, causing glare, halos, faded colors and blur that glasses can no longer fix. We monitor cataracts during your annual exam and help you decide when surgery makes sense — and which lens implant (standard, toric or multifocal) fits your goals.

LASIK & refractive surgery

Interested in reducing your dependence on glasses? We assess prescription stability and eye health to determine whether LASIK, PRK, SMILE or an implantable lens is appropriate, then follow you through recovery.

Why co-management?

You get continuity: one team that knows your history, convenient North Valley locations for follow-ups, and a direct line to your surgeon if anything comes up.

Frequently asked questions

Is cataract surgery covered by insurance?

Coverage for cataract surgery is handled through your surgeon’s office. Premium lens implants that reduce the need for glasses involve an additional out-of-pocket cost.

How do I know if I am a LASIK candidate?

A consultation with corneal mapping tells us. Good candidates are over 18, have a stable prescription and healthy corneas, and are not pregnant or nursing.

How many post-op visits are there?

Typically one day, one week and one month after surgery, with any additional visits your surgeon recommends.
